Overflowing talent

Are Americans somehow deficient? I notice that almost all the Kdrama stars are not only actors but have other talents like singing or dancing or modeling. It's not unusual for Kpop stars to switch over and become very popular, talented actors as well. Same true with models; especially the male models. And EVERYONE in Korea seems to be able to sing.

How did they get all the talent genes and somehow I came up short? ~ Judy

(left) Kim Woo-bin was a big time model prior to breaking out as an actor. Not sure if he can sing but if he's like most Koreans I bet he can!

I think it's like the old studio system in Hollywood. Everyone had to learn to sing and dance. Many of these actors are recruited in middle and high school and are in training for years before their "debut". Some are steered towards acting, some into music. The agencies have a LOT of control over them until they get successful enough that they can break out on their own. The amount of work they make them do, they could never get away with it here I think.

I’m surprised to discover how talented the performers are! Instead of concentrating so much energy on athletics, Koreans seem to value the performing arts. Their storylines are also engaging!
