Hello fellow fans,
I am a (retired) philosophy professor who writes on films and art, etc., and learned of this forum through Levi Tenen, who is Judy's son and a friend of mine. Good to see y'all!
Recently I was interviewed about k-dramas in a podcast by Brandon Polite, who specializes in aesthetics, and he has now published the interview on Youtube. I'd love for you to look at it and offer any comments and questions. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L6L0nJ2N1k.
And if I can nominate any favorite actors to your section on that, I'd like to add Kim Nam-Gil, Namkoong Min, and Jang Hyuk! They are all terrific, I'm sure you will agree. They are my favorites. I can send photos too if you like!
All the best,
Cynthia Freeland/Houston
nice list of actors!
I first saw Jang Hyuk in Wok of Love, where he played second lead to Junho, of all things, and he was so striking even in this relatively mid- drama. He is quite a force!
I've yet to be taken over by Kim Nam-Gil, but would definitely agree with Namgoong Min
Besides these, my list would be: Yoo Ah-in (phenomenal); Song Joong-ki (I've always thought of him as just a flower boy, but he has stunned me now that I've watched him in more than Vincenzo), Cho Seung-woo, Oh Jung-se (can do anything. I'm dying to see him as a romantic or otherwise lead), Lee Junho, Im Siwan, Gong Yoo, Lee Joong-ki (he was superb in Flower of Evil, King and the Clown, altho I don't think he's generally picked good dramas)
now I'm off to look at your interview!
