A LITTLE HELP, PLEASE

I’ve got a good buddy who loves historical Kdramas. He’s watched other genres, but he prefers these above all others. The other day he was asking me for a suggestion…you know, something of the caliber of Mr Sunshine, The Red Sleeve, or Rookie Historian, and I couldn’t give him any advice.
Anyone have any ideas? ~ Pat
Judy here. This is a perennial problem. Men like the historical and/or action shows. This Gmama prefers Melodrama or RomCom (although Mr Sunshine is my all-time favorite...) We'd like to be of assistance to our male Gmamas so please give us some suggestions!

Tree with Deep Roots--about King Sejong the Great, who invented the Hangul alphabet as a way of helping the common people of Korea, since otherwise only the upper classes learned to read and write in the official language of Chinese. It features the amazing Jang Hyuk mentioned below by joonchild (and he truly is!), as well as the fabulous actor Han Suk Kyu as the King. You would never think that a story about inventing an alphabet would be so fascinating, full of wars, politics, romance, etc.
