BACKING IN

It's Pat. This is such a hot topic that The New York Times did an article about it. Backing one’s car into a parking spot has even caught on in Kdramas. One of the last ones I watched, the actor backed in.

And here’s the amazing thing: it was a woman! Before you jump down my throat for this misogynistic statement, please note I was merely putting myself in her shoes. I couldn’t back in a car for anything. I commend the deft way she did it. It was a totally cool maneuver. Of course I questioned whether it was her or a stunt double. I had to watch this scene several times to make sure it was her. It was!

In defense of my driving skills, I’m a pretty good driver. Actually, I’m a really good driver. Judy, driving hog that she is, has hardly been a passenger in my car. She’s Charles in Charge when it comes to driving, and I have to admit I like to sit back and let her take over… mostly. It must have been too much for her when I drove round trip to Palo Alto from home several years ago when she was the passenger.

Speaking of driving together, Judy gets to share the driving when we go back to Palo Alto to attend the BTS concert. Stay tuned!

Judy: In my defense I readily admit that I am a nervous passenger. When put into this uncomfortable situation I generally offer commentary and advice from the passenger seat... even without being asked! Gee, what a friend!

I will back in when I have to, there are parking areas in Sydney that demand that. However, my daughter who drives an SUV ? which seats at least 5 people (as apposed to my Toyota Corolla) backs in with such expertees even when she is not required to, it simply does my head in!

Happy travels all!👍

This is a subject I've thought about lately, though not in relation to kdramas, and I've concluded that I don't even want to TRY to back my car into a parking spot. I admire those I see who do it confidently and deftly. I shudder to think of what I might well hit or scrape against!
