Do I Hear Bells?

Well, it's Judy, and do I have news for Favorite Daughter! During our recent trip to Stanford Pat was nice enough to drive. We realized the car needed recharging and found a charging station at Whole Foods. (Pretty straightforward so far, isn't it? Well this is the Gmamas so you know it's not going to stay that way for long!)

Alex, Candidate #1 who was stunned by us.

We barely figured out how to work the silly machine and of course it wouldn't take our credit card. Meanwhile a nice young man asked us to move over so he could access his plug-in spot and Pat pounced with 'Sure, but can you help us?' He kindly agreed and it got so confusing that he finally said 'I'll just pay for your charge...'

So what do American Grandmothers do? We ask questions! Where are you from? Hong Kong. What do you do? In IT creating code to eliminate my own job. How old are you? 28. Do you want to marry my daughter?.... Eventually he fought us off & went in for groceries while our car was juicing up. On his return we asked how much we owed so I could Venmo payment. Or course I sent a bit more than was requested and tagged the payment 'Gas and Marriage Proposal.' He subsequently Venmo'd the overpayment back to me with a note saying 'Proposal Accepted.' I'm feeling pretty excited for Favorite Daughter.

But it gets better.

On the flight to Salt Lake my seat mate sat down to several hello's from surrounding

passengers and I looked at him inquiringly.... he explained he was 'Famous Johnny.' Wow, that's all it took.... more grandma questions! This lovely gentleman is almost 39, works in Finance during the week, sets up Lantern Festivals around the country on the weekends, likes sports, and even knew an obscure line from Cool Runnings.....one of Favorite Daughter's favorite movies. So naturally I extended a marriage proposal to him.

What a mom! Two separate marriage proposals in one weekend.... hard to get better than that. Now Favorite Daughter has to pick one... I've done the hard part.

I’m sure you terrified Alex, the car charger helper from Whole Foods. He’ll probably never shop there again. I might have had a teeny hand in his potential post traumatic stress disorder, but you, Judy, you get the Oscar for your performance!~Pat

Meanwhile I was chilling in the car enjoying the beautiful California scenery: that is, the underground Whole Foods parking garage, and noting that Alex seemed to be reallllllly taking his time shopping upstairs 😀 It was fun to observe this Gmama adventure firsthand!
