Colors, colors everywhere?

Having recently returned from Europe, I want to point out something that is similar between Europe and South Korea.

Both places apparently they have a phobia against colorful clothing. Everywhere I went in Germany, Austria, & Italy the vast majority of people were wearing blacks, grays, and maybe some navy or brown thrown in for excitement. This is also true in Korea where the streets of Seoul look like a black & white photo.
By contrast Americans are exuberant with their embrace of color. Yes we wear patterns! Yes, we wear prints! And yes, we wear tacky sweatshirts with images on the front! And you thought it was just the tennis shoes that distinguished us? ~ Judy
Au contraire, Judy! If you go to San Francisco, the only people you will see wearing color - and looking majorly out of place - are the tourists. The locals know it’s more appropriate to wear dark colors. Only the tourists have on Bermuda shirts, sandals, and short sleeved shirts. I think you’re confused about appropriate clothing for SEASONS, of which you have exactly NONE in Tucson. You’ve been blinded by the light of the sun, good buddy. And if you want to get into it about Koreans and colors, well, look at your post about kimjang vests! ~ Pat
