HATED IT BUT WATCHED IT ANYWAY*

Have you ever suffered through something but finished it anyway? Of course this could apply to many things - for me it was graduate school in social work, and then many years later organizing a conference for the law school where I lived - but my latest run-in with this is one of the last KDramas I watched.
It’s hard for me to go into a full force whine about this considering blog buddy Judy just watched FIFTY TWO EPISODES of something she was lukewarm about but hung in there until the bitter end. Get this: a large part of her show was about COOKING but she sucked it up and did it. We all know what Judy thinks about cooking, right?
Now this next bit may be TMI for some of you gentler readers, but it’s such a good quote so if you think you’re up to the task, read on. If not, skip this paragraph. When my husband was in medical school he had a professor from South Africa who constantly told the students - who were 90% male - to “tack their balls to your seats” and get on with it. I guess that’s what I was doing… minus the anatomical part: I was diligently watching every episode. Thank goodness there were only twelve!
When I think about this particular KDrama, I really didn’t get it. The premise was just too far out for me, and there was too much religion. The digital graphics were fantastic, especially episode 5, but after that was over I was watching most of it in English while I made dinner. In other words, YAWN…
The unfortunate thing is that the cast was great. The leads have been in many KDramas I’ve watched and loved, but not here. In the play and movie ‘Funny Girl’ starring Barbra Streisand there is one great line about the character she portrays, and here it is: ‘Everything you’ve got is about right, but the damn thing don’t come out right’. That pretty much sums up this KDrama for me.
*Can you tell what show I’m talking about? ~ Pat
Good grief! How can anyone tell what you're talking about??? I mean wth references from male anatomy to Barbra Streisand to religion it could be anything. That being said I definitely know what show she's talking about... but only because I know what's been on her watch list recently. What's your guess? (Answer to be revealed in a later post.) ~ Judy

My guess would be Head Over Heels, based on the following: recency, story about shamanism (religion), 12 episodes, and that Pat and I seem to have polar opposite tastes in Kdrama.
(Yes, I liked this one a lot, although it followed the too-familiar Kdrama pattern lately of a
late episode decline & weak ending)
