JAGALCHI

Luckily, I live near San Francisco. A few weeks ago a group of Kdrama buddies and my husband and I made the trek to Daly City to check out this new Korean grocery store; Jagalchi. The hype about this place has been phenomenal, partly due to their merchandising via Instagram and partly due to the large Asian population in the Bay Area. I wonder how many people visited it because they are Kdrama fans like we are?

The front entrance is large and welcoming. There is a restaurant in the middle of the store, the food and the cosmetics surround it. We spent so much time in the restaurant I didn’t see some of the fresh food or the frozen food sections. Guess I’ll have to go back!
After lunch we picked up gimbap and bibimbap to take home. This area of the store is so busy that there is a line just to wait in until the prepared foods make it to the shelves. The instant they come out they are snatched up.
After watching so many Kdramas, the only trouble I had was trying to find a non spicy ramyeon. I’m still a spice wimp (note I didn’t say spicy wimp), and I don’t think that’s going to change.
I’m constantly saying, “Kdramas made me do it”. Really, I wouldn’t have even thought of going to Jagalchi if I hadn’t become enamored of all things Korean. ~ Pat
Pat has a big advantage over me with the number of Asians living in her area. I can probably do better than her on Mexican food but Korean food.... she's got the advantage. ~ Judy

I'm on my way home from 6 days in the Bay Area and I've now been to Jagalchi twice since it's so close to the San Francisco airport. We tried all kinds of treats we bought on our first visit and had lunch there today. Thanks for tip!
Yes, Song, this is America where we overdo everything!
It looks quite elegant, not at all like Jagalchi Market in Busan 😍
Busan was perhaps my favorite too.... although that may have been influenced by the soju drinking on the beach. And Barbara you have a pretty strong Korean presence in Minneapolis.... Tucson is slower to embrace all things Korean.
I'm so envious! That sounds wonderful. Song should find this interesting since she lives in Busan! I loved Busan ❤️
