With a name like that who could resist going to this Dance Club in Koreatown, LA? Well the 'single ladies' (aka Favorite Daughter, Bumblebee Niece, Baby Niece, & me) decided to go for it. This was after our Uber driver REFUSED to drop us off at another place beause he felt it was too shady for us....
Some of you have already seen some snippets of this iconic outing. Let me just say that our group couldn't have gotten more interest had I been a giraffe. People (especially men) were crawling all over me! We had 3 separate groups of men approach and talk with us for longer than you would guess.... some even danced with this Gmama. (Disclaimer: I held myself to 2 drinks so it wasn't a total bachanalia but rather a 'relaxed' night.) We closed the venue down and got back to the hotel at almost 5am...
Some of the highlights:
*Korean woman asking 'what's the occasion?' Well, I wowed her with my Korean language skills by introducing myself in Korean & continuing with a few phrases. Things like "사랑해요" which any Kdrama fan understands. (I love you.)
*Adorable Aaron who wants to adopt me as his grandma & who can blame him? He was with friends who are published authors for Ms Magazine. Surely this connection will help the Gmamas become famous!
* Very hip Jeffrey from Loyola Marymount who spotted me across the dance room & came up because he 'had to dance with me.'
*Young woman who vaulted a banquette bench to join me in dancing. Yes, it was shocking.
*There was a group outside that couldn't believe at 71 years old I was at Kiss Kiss Bang Bang AND that both my parents are living! (Shout out to Mom & Dad!)

Notice his arm casually draped over my shoulder?
*Group of maybe 10 Indian men at Jessica's apartment who were moving at 3am. They had couches balanced on the roof of their cars and didn't want the police to see them. We discussed the Dance Club but also our conversation veered into Sikh religious beliefs, the difference between the words Hindi & Hindu, and cooking.
*But my all time favorite was Javier. Oh Javier! He was across the dance floor & we locked eyes... and I was almost seduced.. Alas, I take my responsibility of chaperoning seriously and could not accept his attention.
Javier in his skinny jeans making his move on this Gmama! Be still my heart...
The moral of all this is that apparently Gmamas are not frequenting Dance Clubs often. That being said, I found the patrons friendly, open, interesting, and super accepting. Assuming you can find a group of Single Ladies to join you, I recommend giving it a try! I'll be googling "Dance Clubs Tucson" later this week.
You had so much fun, I'm not waiting for a group of women to lose their inhibitions and get out there and boogie!
Looks like you had the time of your life, Judy! LA looks like a fun place.
What a blast! And Javier, oh my goodness! ;-)
You looked like you were having a blast! You’re much braver than I am 😊
You are funny Randi! I'm not exactly sure that my debauchery on the dance floor is what the Korean Ministry of Culture is looking for...
