Makeup?

Judy here... Let's see if I can get a rise out of Pat.

I admit it. After a few years of watching Kdramas I am 100% okay with makeup on men. That flawless skin a result of makeup? Yep, I'm good with it. Those gorgeous eyes enhanced with makeup? Yep, I'm good with it. Lucscious lips due to makeup? Yep, it's fine.

Average Korean guy.... you must admit the makeup enhances him... Why doesn't this work on me?

In fact, I don't understand why women use makeup here in the US but men don't. I mean if it enhances one why not enhance both? That being said I have yet to discover a makeup trick or brand that helps my 71 year old face look dewy and fresh... but I'm working on it!

RISE HAS HAPPENED!! What is the polite way to say ‘UGH’? When I see lipstick on guys, that’s all I can see. (I haven’t noticed actual facial makeup, and lucky me, I don’t want to.) I’m so intent at looking at those fake red lips, I can’t immerse myself in the scene, interpret facial expressions, or enjoy the show. But mostly I think it makes the male actors look androgynous.

I remember reading a quote from Lee Byung Hun after he won the APAN Star Award and the Baek Sang Award for his role in Mr. Sunshine. Since he was 20 years older than Kim Tae-ri, the lead female actor, he thanked the makeup team for making him look young enough to play his part. At least he didn’t have those fake red lips. ~ Pat

Oh Pat, get over it..... lean in to those red lips...

Nope, that’s your fantasy, not mine!
