When Judy and I talked about going to Korea many, many months ago, it became clear we wanted different experiences. Our original plan to go together wasn’t going to work. I wanted to be slotted into a tour that was completely planned for me. Judy wanted to have more options to hand pick things she’d seen in Kdramas. To her credit, she found a Korean travel agent who lives in Busan, Ms. Song Lee, who is helping her plan a trip in October for 14 of her family members!

Lucky for me, I got to meet Song yesterday. She’s a lovely young woman. She came to my hotel laden with gifts including her very own dried persimmons (remember gotgam?) homemade snacks, and an apparatus to use to dry persimmons. (And look, she even gift wraps like we've mentioned previously!) I bet you’re wondering how she knew I dried persimmons. It’s because she follows this blog!

She told me an amusing story about the crackers she gave me. They are the same crackers that Seri ate in North Korea in Crash Landing on You when she disdainfully told her “captors” she never ate anywhere except five star restaurants. It’s apparently an In joke for Koreans who watched CLOY.

'Crackers' just like shown in Cloy!

It was so lovely to meet Song. Judy and her family will be in very good hands when she visits!

*For American followers her Korean name is Lee Song (actually there might be a 3rd syllable in there after Song but I don't know what it is... most Korean first names are 2 syllable.) But in the US we would call her Song Lee. As a sign of respect we should call her either Lee Song-nim or Song-shi or by her title. Lucky for me Song hasn't been a stickler on enforcing these hierarchal nuances of the Korean language!

And Pat is correct; our trips will be similar but different. Hopefully when I go in October my posts will be as entertaining as Pat's posts! ~ Judy
