SCREEN TIME
Every so often my iPad lets me know how much time I’ve spent on screen time. It’s about five plus hours/day. I don’t want to believe it’s true because it seems excessive. How could that possibly be?

Then I remember I’m always playing a game on my iPad while I’m watching the news - shoutout to PBS NEWS HOUR Monday through Friday - or watching a show with my husband, so the time adds up.
This made me wonder how much daily time I spend watching Kdramas. Then it made me wonder how much time my friends do the same. Then I started to wonder how they watch them.
I’ll go first. I usually watch on my iPad because it’s portable and I can carry it from room to room. My favorite time of day to start watching is as soon as I get in bed around 10:00 pm. My husband takes out his hearing aids and falls promptly asleep while I get caught up in whatever historical drama or rom-com I’m currently obsessed with. If we watch together, we use the tv in the family room.
I just visited with one of my Kdrama gurus in Alameda, CA, and I asked her the same questions. She watches about four hours a day, hooking her computer up to her tv in …it sounds like…her woman cave. Here’s the kicker. She watches in her basement. She’s so lucky she has one! She also watches at 1.5 speed to “ get more bang for her buck”…her words. Rereading this, it made me realize I have no clue how many hours/day I watch Kdramas, but I’ll tell you this: it’s not enough. ~ Pat
Well, we all have our vices, don't we? ANYONE who has tried to call me in the evening hours knows that I am typically watching Kdramas at that hour and will be semi-annoyed with the phone call interruption. As I've said before, in an attempt to appear high-brow, I try to limit myself to 2 hours of TV per day. That's the goal; but I believe I am actually watching more like 3 hours per day. 100% of my TV viewing time is spent on Kdramas (why mess with what I enjoy?) That being said my 'screen time' also should include my computer & smart phone usage. I can easily get caught up scrolling through my social media if I am not careful. And of course Pat and I both spend HOURS & HOURS coming up with fascinating posts & commentary just like this one. ~ Judy

Yes, dvankirk is overthinking the pie chart!
Like Judy, I spend 0% of my screen time on gaming and e-books.
I have questions regarding the categories in the pie chart:
1--Is time spent reading and answering emails considered Social or Other media?
2--Does TV mean (a) cable and streaming subscriptions (like DirectTV) that include major networks like ABC, NBC, etc.; or (b), does TV mean all that plus television series seen via subscriptions like Netflix and Hulu; or (c), does viewing television shows via subscriptions fall in the category Online Videos?
3--Does the category Movies mean only non-streaming video recordings (like DVD and VCR); or, do does watching movies via subscriptions like Netflix and Hulu fall in the category Online Videos?
Okay, I'm obviously overthinking the pie…
