Tick Tock Tick Tock

My family has always had clocks around the house. Most are old clocks purchased in Europe and they chime. For me, hearing a clock tick and chime means 'home.' Alas, many of my clocks are no longer work & finding a clock repairperson is a challenge in today's digital world.... another topic.

However, I've noticed that in many Kdramas you will see clocks in unexected places. And I'm not talking about office wall clocks; but rather big, wooden, grandfather clocks with pendulums and chimes. I mean, have you ever seen a grandfather clock at a Police Station? Well, in Beyond Evil there's a nice looking, grandfather clock at the local station. In Love Next Door one appears in the lobby of the Paramedics' Office. They also appear in many offices.
These clocks are noticeable to me... they appear everywhere! I can understand seeing them in personal homes but I still find them out of place at a hospital, or police station, or in a high rise lobby. And I love clocks! ~ Judy
Pat: I can attest to Judy’s love of clocks. There is a big one in her great room. She is so used to it I’m not sure she even hears when it chimes. I, on the other hand, can hear it when it just ticks. (It does tick, doesn’t it, Judy?) Yes, a nice, soothing, tick-tock-tick-tock...
True confession: I do recall one of the clocks she mentions in this post, the one in Love Next Door. But I’ll be on the lookout for the when in Beyond Evil when I summon the courage to watch it.
