Unbelievable...

In case you don't follow us on Instagram or Facebook I thought I'd share... After many decades this Gmama has returned to College. In this case Korean 101. I mean I've been listening to Korean for over a year... how hard could it be?
Well, the professor is actually serious about this! He wants me to study 12-14 hours weekly, give Power Point presentations, have personal conversations with him to check my progress, and submit workbook assignments.
I've never done a Power Point presentation, can barely remember 2 words in Korean, wear hearing aids.... plus they use a computerized tool called D2L where I'm supposed to be checking my assignments, submitting homework, and having chats with fellow students. Needless to say they do not have a mechanical pencil sharpener in the classroom. Suffice it to say that college has changed a bit in the 48 years since I've attended.
All this with a senior brain that forgets what it went into a new room for.... ~ Judy

This is great! You're going to learn so much. I almost signed up for a Korean beginner's class at the university here but opted for a course in Korean lit in translation instead. Maybe next year! Ack, D2L! I taught for a couple of years at a 2-year college here and had to put together courses on D2L. It gave me splitting headaches, but many (younger) instructors could just whip it all together.
As your OLDER sister, & one of so many you are strong arming to go with you to South Korea next year, there are key things you need to know how to say. Here’s my short list:
how to say Please & Thank You
how much does it cost & be able to count to 100
Where’s the bathroom is essential
min case of an non medical emergency be able to say take me to an America Embassy
While I’m certain you’ll be fluent by April, always remember the above essential!😁. You can do it!!!
Such a great photo of you, and you don't look a bit overwhelmed! Hang in there.
I'm not sure what you can do to rein in the instructor's expectations of you. Maybe whine, "I'm trying."
Judy, I am so proud of you for going back to school to learn something new again. Best of luck to you in all of your academic endeavors!! Your sister-in-law, Heather Stahle
“Fighting!” You can do it!
