Why does BTS wear glasses?

Judy here and to be honest, I have a bone to pick with the Korean language. I love a lot of things about Korean but what I don't love is the SIZE of the letters.

In English we mainly use a 12-point font size for books, letters, etc. Somewhere along the line the people who were in charge of the Korean letters made a serious mistake. They also chose to use a 12-point size ....except they frequently squeeze 3-4 different letters together in those tiny spots. Thus, three Hangul letters get squeezed into the area taken up by a normal 'A' in the English language. Let me try to illustrate this:

English: to Like (6 distinct letters with 1 space)

Hangul: 좋이하아 (9 distinct letters and no space)

See that first 'letter' of the Hangul? That's actually 3 different letters squeezed into the equivalent space of one English letter.

Now I don't know about you but it’s a struggle for me to make out those little, tiny letters in the Korean version.

A couple of the BTS boys wear glasses as fashion accessories but 5 of the 7 have Rx glasses.

So is it any wonder that Koreans are near-sighted? Nope, they're having to squint and struggle every day just to read anything in Hangul!  (Koreans have double the rate of nearsightedness than Americans.... almost 90%!!!) Now I don't want to make a causational link between tiny point size and nearsightedness but I have to wonder!

Spoken like you formerly owned a printing business. Wait! You did!

Face it, Judy: you wouldn’t have complained about the size of the font when you were in your 40’s…unless you were visually challenged then as well. I’m just getting to the point of having to put on reading glasses at the end of the day when I’m tired. Looking at your Hangul makes me tired right now, and it’s only noon. ~ Pat
