Winter Sonata & Google

I've begun watching the classic show Winter Sonata dating from the early 2000's and discovered something fascinating. I routinely Google the show & refer to the cast list to learn their names. Since I knew no one in this show I naturally Googled to get the info. However, I could not find the 2nd leading man in the listing. I kept going back and forth thinking I had overlooked him or couldn't recognize him from the thumbnail photos.

So I Googled 'what actor played X in Winter Sonata. And up came my answer; Park Yong-ha. After reading I discovered that this actor/singer committed suicide 8 years after Winter Sonata was televised. When I asked Google why he was not included in the list of actors it responded with a lame answer that said it was maybe because he played a minor role. That is total nonsense as he was probably the 3rd most important actor in the series. I also googled Coffee Prince since I know that one of the actors in that series also subsequently died, although by a motorcycle accident. He does appear in the list of actors for that show. I suspect that the suicide has somehow changed the algorithm as to how Google responded to my question!

What a shame. Certainly Park Yong-ha deserves to be listed as an important cast member for Winter Sonata and the fact that he commited suicide should be irrelevant in this Gmama's opinion.

Another interesting tidbit about this show is that the female lead, Choi Ji-woo had a cameo appearance in Crash Landing on You. She was the 'famous actress' that one of the North Korean soldiers had a crush on & was able to meet! Small world of Korean actors and it's fun to see these connections. ~ Judy
