DOUBLE OR NOTHING

No, this isn’t about making a bet. It’s about the Korean celebrities who have decided to forgo double eyelid surgery.

There are both Korean actresses and singers who have chosen not to do this. This includes Jisoo and Jennie from BLACKPINK and several actresses in Kdramas.

I just finished watching You and Everything Else starring Kim Go Eun. Not only am I fascinated by her, but I love how natural she looks. She decided not to have double eyelid surgery, and it made me wonder what prods someone to have this surgery. Since this can be a sensitive subject - like plastic surgery and hair dyeing in this country - I want to state these are all individual decisions, and people can do what they want with their bodies. I’ve decided to let my hair go grey, and here I am, full of wrinkles and thin hair, and I’m happy with it. I never was going to win a beauty contest anyway but I used to be a lot cuter. I ponder what I would look like now if I’d chosen to do both plastic surgery and dyeing my hair. Food for thought. (Actually, this is Judy’s invitation to tell you all how fabulous I look. Beauty standards are a funny thing, aren't they? Like Pat I've gone totally gray; although I prefer the term 'silver.' Of course I do not have any wrinkles because I religiously use my Korean moisturizing balm 2x daily. But I'm always shocked when I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror or reflection.... am I truly that frumpy, grandmotherly person peering back at me? It cannot be! And of course the problem with plastic surgery is where do you start at our age? Face? Neck? Upper Arms? Tummy? When would it be enough?

Lastly, it seems that Men tend to resist double eyelid surgery more than women. Two gorgeous Koreans shown here with monolid eyes. Wonder if there's less pressure on the men? ~ Judy
