THIS WAS BOUND TO HAPPEN

I don’t know why, but I’ve resisted watching any dramas other than Kdramas…until now. I feel a certain allegiance to Kdramas and all things Korean; even though I lived in Taiwan for two years and travelled and lived in Japan for three weeks, my heart belongs to Korea. (Note from Judy: travelled is generally preferred by the British; traveled is generally preferred by Americans. I don't have a clue why Pat is feeling British as she writes this but felt I would be overreaching if I corrected her spelling in this instance. This is the kind of thing we think about when editing our blog posts...)

So when good friends suggested my husband and I watch a CDrama, I refrained from following through.

That was several weeks ago. Now we’re 29 episodes into a 40-episode CDrama and are as maniacal about it as we were with Mr. Sunshine!

Is it as good as Mr. Sunshine? Never. However, it’s fun to watch, and the love story is sweet. Already the leads have kissed several times… if you can call their closed-mouth bussing a kiss. In this regard, this show has it all over Mr. Sunshine. We have friends who watched Lee Byung-hun and Kim Tae-ri in Mr. Sunshine and would yell at the tv, ‘Just touch her!’

The male lead, Zhang Linghe, is drop dead gorgeous. Judy, this should make you so happy. The female lead, Tian Xiwei, is scrappy and cute. The story is very complicated. I never know who is trying to kill whom. For my husband and me, it’s fun to try to see if we can remember any of the Chinese we learned fifty years ago.

So what is the name of this CDrama that has us glued to the tv every night? It’s The Pursuit of Jade. Let us know if you watch it- or have already watched it. We’d love to hear what you thought. ~ Pat

Well heck. I suppose I'll be forced to learn how to pronounce some Chinese names, won't I? ~ Judy

I agree with Pat!

I was never interested in c-dramas until “Pursuit of Jade”. Now it’s game over!

The lead actors, especially Zheng Linghe, the drama, music, plot .. the director and whoever cast these actors .. deserve an award! Exceptional

I’m half way through and really enjoying it. The leads are beautiful people. The language isn’t hard to listen to even though I’m used to listening to Korean. I recommend it.

I highly recommended (again) the 10-episode Japanese drama "A LIFE a love."

I watched it and share your opinion. Fun to watch, he's gorgeous, and she's cute. A high-quality show, but not Mr. Sunshine. If you'd like to try another c-drama, I watched another right after this that I thought was even better, and that is The Prisoner of Beauty. The actors seemed and looked more real to me, and I felt the development of their romance was more interesting.

P.S. This is Barbara. Guess I was logged out when I posted!
