THIS WAS BOUND TO HAPPEN
I don’t know why, but I’ve resisted watching any dramas other than Kdramas…until now. I feel a certain allegiance to Kdramas and all things Korean; even though I lived in Taiwan for two years and travelled and lived in Japan for three weeks, my heart belongs to Korea. (Note from Judy: travelled is generally preferred by the British; traveled is generally preferred by Americans. I don't have a clue why Pat is feeling British as she writes this but felt I would be overreach

Baby Steps.
For our devoted readers many of you remember that I am taking Korean Language lessons at a local Tucson church. (Shout out to Tucson Young-Nak Church and Marana Korean School!) Well, it's starting to click. No, I cannot carry on a conversation. No, I cannot understand everything being said. But YES I see glimmers! Last week I jotted down whenever I heard something on a Kdrama that I understood without the subtitle.... These included: scissors meat scallions rice be

From our Archives...
First published in Dec 2022 and worthy of review: Hi All, I’m Pat, Judy’s partner in crime for all things KDrama. As Judy says, we are hooked! (It’s been so bad that we are thinking of starting a KDrama Anonymous group.) While Judy has covered broad subjects as what to watch, clothes and drama, I’m going to focus in on one small part of the human anatomy: dimples. I’m even going to take it a bit further and zero in on male dimples. Yes folks, this is a male dominated dim

Age of Innocence
I want to talk about the recent show The Village Barber. This is a reality show where 3 famous actors set up a Barber Shop in a small, country town. I've talked about this show and the fact that I find it rather endearing, but I also want to point out a distinct difference that I see in this show and what I think might happen in the United States. The three male stars befriend all the villagers - young, old, men, women - anyone who enters the shop becomes a friend. Young cl

BTS ON THE BRAIN
It's Pat and I'm still obsessed. Here is what is nagging at me right now. What boots does the group wear for concerts? Recently Jimin is wearing his cuffs tucked into his boots for a particularly nice look. These guys are about as far from hulks as one can get. They’re not bulky young men, but their boots are real ****kickers. Whenever I google to get info about their footwear, all I find is what the concert goers should wear. Hey, I’m almost 80. I wear dopey HOKAS. Ho

How to say Goodbye in Korean...
I just googled how to say goodbye in Korean. It’s complicated. Hopefully Judy can help me out here. What am I saying goodbye to? (In the hopes that my English teacher daughter reads this, I’ll rephrase this to ‘To what am I saying goodbye?’) It’s the Pyeongsang! For those of you who don’t read this blog regularly, a pyeongsang is a Korean bench. It’s used outside for many purposes, mostly to eat and relax. I had one built for my backyard last year. Guess what? NO ONE U

THE Spreadsheet!
It's that time of year again.... to provide our devoted fans with my updated Kdrama Spreadsheet. Since some of the Gmamas are lazy, they prefer to simply watch the shows that I have curated for them. I've even heard that some only watch those shows that I've rated highly. That might be a mistake since Pat and I frequently watch the same shows and disagree wildly on our ratings. Some shows that I dislike might be your personal favorites.... and you'll never know! I'm flat

Mt Gwanak vs Sedona?
You know the Gmamas are always on the cutting edge when it comes to new and interesting topics, right? Well, I think I will propose some sort of showdown between Mt Gwanak (just outside of Seoul) and the Red Rocks of Sedona, Arizona. Both of these tourist hot spots claim to have special energy and a mystical aura. It'll be like Sister Cities with a Twist! For scenic beauty Sedona is pretty untouchable. In Mt Gwanak's case it provides you with luck. Anyone who visits Mt Gw
